Aspartic Acid
You may know aspartic acid as it’s most common use in food products, aspartame, which is made up of aspartic acid and phenylalanine. Aspartic acid also increases stamina which makes it a good candidate for those suffering with fatigue and depression. In fact those with chronic fatigue may suffer from low levels of aspartic acid, because that may lead to lowered cellular energy. In the correct ratio apartic acid has been found beneficial for those with neural/brain disorders. Epilepsy patients have an elevated level whereas those with some types of depression have decreased levels. Also beneficial to athletes because it helps to remove excess ammonia caused by protein intake.
To form molecules that absorb and remove toxins from the bloodstream aspartic acid will combine with other amino acids.
Aspartic Acid also:
Helps move minerals across the intestinal lining and into the blood and cells.
Aids cell functions
Aids the functions of DNA/RNA (the carriers of genetic information)
Stimulates the production of immunoglobulins and antibodies (immune system proteins).
