Glutamic Acid

Glutamic acid is a neurotransmitter designed to increase the rate that neurons fire in the central nervous system. It is also a major excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain and spinal cord. Glutamic acid is either converted into glutamine or gamma-aminobutyric acid. The conversion of glutamic acid into glutamine is the only way that the brain can be detoxified and free of ammonia.
Glutamic acid is a very important amino acid, it is important for the metabolism of sugars and fats, also aids in the distribution of potassium in the spinal fluid and into the blood-brain barrier.
